Training programs for initial certification and recertification are available. Initial certification requires a Zoom classroom session and a field testing session. Recertification only requires a field testing session.
Field testing for both initial certification and recertification will be held in person.

Fees
$375 Initial Certification (includes Zoom classroom session and field testing with smoke truck)
$250 Recertification (field testing with smoke truck only)
The fee covers instruction and materials. Registrants are responsible for all meals and lodging.
Online Registration
Registration for spring 2025 is expected to open in early February.
During registration, all registrants will choose a field testing session.
For initial certification:
Registrants who need initial certification will also choose a Zoom classroom session. A Zoom link will be sent to registrants prior to the day of the class. Your Zoom session (part 1 of your initial training) must be completed prior to the time/date of your field testing session (part 2 of your initial training).
You may not use your Penn State account to register anyone other than yourself. If you are registering someone else, an account must be created with their name and information.

Confirmation
When your registration is complete, Penn State Conferences and Institutes will confirm your enrollment and provide any additional information specific to your program site. Confirmation and information will be sent to the email address that you provide on your registration form.
You will be alerted promptly of any cancellations or changes. If some unforeseen event forces Penn State to cancel or postpone the program, you will receive a full refund of your registration fee; however, the University cannot be held responsible for any related costs, including cancellation fees assessed by airlines or travel agencies.
Refunds
Cancellation requests can be received up to the day before the start of the program for a partial refund. A $50 administrative will be charged for each withdrawal. Send your written request by email to PSUconferences@psu.edu.
Substitutions
Anyone who is registered but cannot attend may identify a substitute. A full refund will be issued after the substitution registration has been completed. A registration form and full payment by the substitute are required. Substitutes are eligible to register at the same fee.

Spring 2025 Illness Acknowledgement
